How to Measure Campaign Links

A practical framework for campaign link naming, distribution and review.

Design the measurement plan

Define the decision the data should support, then select source, medium, campaign and content values. Tracking fields without a decision create large reports and little clarity.

Use one governed inventory

Record the owner, destination, public alias and placement for each link. Reusing one link across unrelated placements may hide differences; creating a new link for every trivial variation creates noise.

Review quality before volume

Separate bots, inspect destination health and compare unique visitors with downstream outcomes. Clicks describe interest at the link; they do not by themselves prove a conversion or business result.
