What Is a Branded Link?
How custom short domains improve context, governance and campaign consistency.
Published 2026-08-24 · Updated 2026-09-18Brand before the path
A branded link uses a domain controlled by the organization, such as go.example.com/offer. The recognizable host gives recipients context before they click and creates a consistent namespace for campaigns and resources.
Verification is essential
A platform must verify domain control through DNS before activating it. Certificate provisioning, host routing, root redirects and custom 404 behavior are operational features, not merely settings fields.
Naming links well
Use short, durable aliases that describe the resource rather than a temporary channel. Keep campaign attribution in the destination query when possible, and document ownership for high-value paths.
